FNUniv Hosts Community Engagement Sessions

February 24, 2025

On February 4th, First Nations University of Canada hosted a Community Engagement Session at Wanuskewin Heritage Park, bringing together First Nation leaders, Tribal Council representatives, post-secondary coordinators, education directors, business leaders, non-profits, and community members to help shape our next strategic plan.

Building on ôtê nîkân – “In the Future” (FNUniv’s 2019-2024 strategic plan), this session was a key step in developing a seven generations plan—ensuring FNUniv continues to serve Indigenous students and communities for generations to come.

“Indigenous Peoples have always planned for the next seven generations, and FNUniv is embracing this vision in a way that no other university has before.” – Dr. Jacqueline Ottmann.

In addition to the Community Engagement sessions, FNUniv also hosted the first of two Elders’ Strategic Planning Sessions at Wanuskewin on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their insights, and contributed to this important work. Your voices are essential, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.
