Dr Jason Demers, a professor from University of Regina, is teaching a course about reading and writing to ten incarcerated students.
In support of Dr. Demers, the First Nations University of Regina’s Library curated a large box of books (50 books have been donated so far) based on the topics that the incarcerated students were interested in learning more about – some were culture, some were specific books (such as There, There by Tommy Orange and Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese), and others were suggestions that students and faculty gave to us when told about the project. Fifteen new books were also curated and donated to the Regina Women’s Remand Centre.
