The $100,000 Kenneth Strath Moore Award endowment, established by Ms. Jennifer Moore Rattray and Mr. Stacy Dainard, celebrates the life and legacy of Kenneth Strath Moore—a trailblazing athlete and member of the Peepeekisis Cree Nation who became the first First Nations athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. This endowment generates an annual scholarship, ensuring Moore’s legacy continues to inspire and support FNUniv students for years to come.
Born in 1910, Kenneth Moore was a standout in hockey, rugby, baseball, and more. His passion and skill took him from Campion College and Regina College—where he captained hockey and rugby teams—to Olympic history. In 1932, Moore represented Canada at the Winter Olympics, scoring a goal and bringing home gold, a moment of triumph not only for him but for Indigenous athletes everywhere.
