The 3rd annual artsyFACT/artsyFICTION was a hit! Indigenous Fine Arts Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor Audrey Dreaver coordinated this fun and engaging event, which took place on Thursday, March 20th. Audrey invited FNUniv faculty, staff, students, artists, and guest speakers as the 10 invited storytellers. This occasion celebrates Indigenous Art and Storytelling, where participants engage in intuitive listening to discern whether it is an artsyFACT or an artsyFICTION.
All 12 stories, based on Indigenous history and culture, were told in two shifts of six stories. Participant teams rotated to each storyteller, and each participant had to listen carefully to determine if the story was Fact or Fiction! Each participant marked their guesses on a ballot, and votes were tallied at the event’s end. Before the prizes were awarded to the winners, each storyteller identified themselves as either an artsyFACT-teller or artsyFICTION-teller. While everyone in attendance was fully engaged in the activities, only those on a team were eligible to win the Individual or Team prizes handed out at the end of the night.
CNFU Radio was on site to record and promote the event.
More details on the 4th annual artsyFACT/artsyFICTION event will be shared in the new year!
