Background: This Bursary recognizes the struggles and dreams of single parents who want a better life for their children. Although the bursary is in the name of Viola Anaquod, the award recognizes all single parents and their accomplishments. Ms. Anaquod successfully raised eight children as a single parent.

- A completed application form
- A copy of current transcripts
- A 500-700 word essay highlighting the applicant’s struggles and accomplishments, academic merit and financial barriers. This is an opportunity for applicants to reflect on their success, both personally and academically and to highlight the success of their children. The applicant may want to emphasize the barriers being a single parent has presented in achieving academic goals. What was done to overcome these barriers? What are your hopes for your children; how does your success as a student impact your children?
